NAAAHR Charlotte Chapter History

The NAAAHR-Charlotte interest group started in 2001 by six human resource professionsals who saw a need for networking, professional development and community outreach among African Americans in Charlotte and surrounding communities.  Our initial membership roster held 30 HR professionals and a distribution list of 300 interested parties. 

NAAAHR Charlotte Mission

Our mission is to increase the presence of our membership in the Charlotte area at all levels and in all industries by empowering them to optimize their potential through Learning & Development, Networking and Community Involvement.

What is NAAAHR?

The National Association of African Americans in Human Resources is a national organization concerned with improving the professional development of African American Human Resource professionals, consultants and students. NAAAHR is dedicated to providing a forum where African Americans can share, gain information and provide leadership on issues affecting their individual careers and the quality of work life for other African Americans.

The focus of the organization is to serve as a network, resource and forum for African American Human Resource professionals.  The chapter is comprised of human resource professionals and consultants.

The Charlotte Chapter is positioning itself to become the premier local human resource forum for African Americans. The chapter strives to help members move progressively through the course of their careers with enhanced knowledge and inspired confidence.

Purpose

Provide professional development which informs and advances the professional
development of African American Human Resource practitioners

Serve as a resource for African Americans in developing a career in Human Resources

Provide a platform for educating and discussing human resource business trends

Provide member services that support member needs such as job listing distribution,
community outreach, newsletter, and networking opportunities
